Dear Baby –
2017 is officially coming to an end. And what a year it was. Big things really did happen throughout the year. Even though you aren’t in our home yet, it is quite a feat to look back on the previous months and really be in awe of all the steps we went through to get closer and closer to meeting you! From our training, to our home study, to all of the paperwork…to the inevitable waiting…it’s been a whirlwind of year!
In the month of December, our profile book was shown for three different situations. We heard back from one of them (of course – another “no”), but are waiting to hear about the outcome for the other two in the coming months.
So – what were we up to in the last month of the year? It was a LOT of holiday craziness, I tell you! I worked a lot of extra hours at the studio (which is great – saving up extra money to prepare for you is always a good thing). Your father has a habit of not using up his vacation time throughout the year, and he usually ends up with a TON of time off at the end of the year. That was the case again this year, so he took quite a few days off in December. It was helpful because that meant he was able to take on some projects around the house! For instance, he built us a beautiful new flower box planter for our front window – it looks AMAZING and was the perfect place for me to plant poinsettias for the winter. I plan to trade out the flowers throughout the seasons for a happy pop of color in front of our house!
Other than having some time off, during December we were able to spend a good deal of time with our friends as well! We had some memorable evenings throughout the month. The women from our connect group at church got together one night, and all of the couples gathered on another occasion for a white elephant gift exchange. We are so blessed and thankful to have them doing life with us, and are so grateful for the friends we have made in the process!
As for Christmas, it was insanely busy as usual! On Christmas we typically traverse between your dad’s family and mine, and this year was no different. Even though the travel back and forth can be a bit insane for one day, overall the celebrations were low key and comfortable, which was a nice thing! And now…we’re ready to bring on 2018! I have to tell you – I am SO READY. I have a feeling that 2018 is our year, baby…I just have a feeling…
Until next time,
Mom
