Today’s outfit involves a combination I have actually never tried before. There’s a first time for everything though, right?
For a few seasons now, I’ve coveted pairs of ankle boots but never actually purchased a pair. Ankle boots (in my opinion) can be extremely tricky to fit properly. If you are vertically challenged like me, you might worry about shortening the look of your legs by wearing a pair. So many ankle boots I’ve tried in the past have not hit me in the right spot, have been the wrong color, or the like. But then…I met this new pair of kicks.
These fringed ankle boots (by Chinese Laundry) are such a great color. If you are trying to elongate your legs, nude/skin tone shoes in general will help to keep the line of your leg going instead of cutting it off like a dark shoe would. Finally, I found a pair of boots that wouldn’t make my legs feel really stumpy! The fringe is also an awesome detail, in my opinion.
I know I’ll have fun wearing these boots with pants and tights/dresses when the weather gets colder, but for now I thought I’d try them out with shorts for a casual look! I think I will have fun continuing to wear them with some other clothing in my wardrobe…

I love this easy, casual look. You look great!
LOOOOOOVE this look! I just bought a pair of ankle booties and cannot wait to wear them! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks! I can’t wait for the weather to get a bit cooler here so I can wear them more often!
,,,you pulled off the look perfectly! shirt and shorts pair well with one another, belt gives the look a little “punch” and the boots are a perfect shade of tan for a summer wardrobe or wearing them into autumn,,,
Thanks for the kind words, Rebecca!
Very cute look! I am not personally an ankle boot fan (for me) because I am petite and curvy and they just don’t ever hit the right spot. But these look great on you. I can’t wait to see how you style them for cooler weather. They’ll be so cute with skinny jeans. 😉
I’m not a huge bootie fan – I’m just not cool enough for them! But I do love the top half of your outfit! I will never give up wearing stripes 😀
They look so cute!
Adore this outfit! I have a pair of bright pink ankle boots that I love.
Ooh, I’d love to see the pink ankle boots – sounds fun!!!

So spot on with your take on ankle boots! They can be tricky, but I think you’ve nailed the look, Katie!!! ~Sarah
PS Loving the mint, stripes, leopard combo!
Thanks for the kind words, Sarah! I’ve been so stumped by ankle boots in the past; love them, but it is SO hard to find just the right fit so your legs don’t look stumpy!
