Oh, the smell of spring: it’s in the air!!! One of my favorite things about this wonderful season is the fresh scent that comes with it. From flowers, to the scent of a clean house after I go through a huge round of spring cleaning, it’s just a great time of the year for my nose! In honor of the spring season and my love of flowers, I am sharing some easy DIY gold flowerpots with you today.
I love when I can take a few simple products and transform them into something even better. To celebrate spring, I thought it would be a great idea to spruce up our screened in porch with some flowers! I got inspired when I spotted some simple self watering flowerpots: they were the perfect size to create a centerpiece for our outdoor seating space, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the color options available. Thankfully, there was an easy (and pretty!) fix for that! Can you guess what it was? Spray paint, that’s what! My answer to many decorating situations.
I picked up three small flowerpots, then set them outside on top of newspaper in a well ventilated area. Next, I got to spraying! It only took a light coat of gold metallic spray paint to cover the outside of the pots. Once I allowed them to dry, I flipped the pots over and sprayed around the inside edges as well. After all of the paint was completely dry, it was time to add flowers!
It just so happened that some pretty pink begonias stood out to me. Because our screened in porch area is covered and doesn’t receive full sunlight throughout the day, the begonias were a good choice (they like shade)! I simply popped the plants into their new gold flowerpots, along with a little extra soil and some fertilizer. Easy and simple: they were ready to go in minutes!
Now, they are happily displayed on our porch area, brightening up the area and making me think of spring every time I look at them.
So, let’s talk about scent. It’s true: scent is a powerful thing. It has the ability to bring up memories, to change your mood, and more. Florals are a favorite of mine. Isn’t it wonderful when you find yourself walking by a flowering plant or tree and you absolutely HAVE to stop and inhale? Oh nature, how I love you! I find myself using floral scents in my body care products, in my cleaning products, my air fresheners, and especially my laundry! To enhance the fantastic florals, I’ve picked up Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™. They are in-wash scent boosters that give cloth a fresh aroma for weeks. So, even days after you’ve tumbled, folded, and put away your laundry you can continue to enjoy that freshly laundered floral scent! The scent lasts FIVE times longer than your everyday laundry scent. So, if you’re like me and enjoy holding up a fresh towel to your nose to inhale that wonderful floral aroma, this is a product for you!
The Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ are available in two scents: Fabulous Field Flowers and Soothing Lavender. They are great to pair with Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioner and fabric detergent. You simply throw a little (or a lot) of the fragrance pearls into the washing machine at the beginning of the cycle and lit them work their magic! I was able to locate my Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ and fabric conditioner at Walmart in the household cleaning area along with the fabric softeners. I like that they are also compatible with high efficiency washing machines: we have one in our laundry room, so I am always very careful to make sure my products are safe to use!
There will be Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ samples on select Suavitel® liquid fabric conditioners in Walmart stores, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for them!
I’m curious: what scents inspire you? Have you been inspired to create a project based on a scent you love? Be sure to check out more information about the Suavitel® Fragrance Pearls™ at Walmart!
So pretty! I love simple ideas like this that make such a huge design impact.
My mood can change in an instant because of smell. A soy candle lasts no more than a week in my house! 🙂
What happened to your old blog? 🙁
I love keeping fresh flowers around for the scent and fresh look. I can’t wait to try these scent boosters! #client
