My Style

Moon River

Finding a perfect, ladylike cocktail dress can sometimes be a difficult task. Some can be too short, some can be too revealing…some can be too boring. It happens.

Enter: the Moon River dress from Shabby Apple.

This little number makes me feel oh so very Audrey Hepburn-esque. It’s a vintage style dress with a modern flair – don’t you love it?

I could go on and on about the details I love on the dress: I absolutely adore the ruffles on the hip (they are great for girls lacking in the curves department since they create volume…and accentuate a small waist!). The boat neck is classy, and a short sleeve is just right for fall/winter months, since I prefer to not wear sleeveless dresses when it gets cool. Another aspect about the Moon River dress that I am fond of? The fact that it is lined. The dress is not flimsy whatsoever, and the satiny inner lining really makes it feel luxurious when you’re wearing it. Shabby Apple did a really great job on this one!

This dress is perfect for a date night out (I wore this to dinner with Justin), a holiday party, and it is even appropriate for a work-related function! The sizing on this frock DOES run large, so keep that in mind if you decide to order one for yourself: I ordered an XXS. There is ample room in the bust (I am not blessed with chest), but the smallest part of the waist fit me perfectly without being snug.

Have you had the chance to don a “date night” look recently? What did you wear/where did you go?
