My Style

Goodbye, sweater weather!

I am having a hard time processing the fact that today is April 1. Of 2014. How in the world has time flown by so fast? The year is now a quarter of the way over. Summer will soon be here (I admit I’m looking forward to a few weeks off from work…), I can feel it.

I’m hoping that the very last days of sweater weather have now passed with this first day of April. We had a cold snap over the weekend, which wasn’t a bad thing, but definitely seemed unseasonal for Florida. However, I saw it as possibly the last opportunity to don a sweater during the day. I do always have a cardigan or other light jacket in tow when I go places (Florida tends to blast the air conditioning oh so high in buildings), but wearing one outdoors is not always possible when the temperatures reach 80! Time to break out the flip flops on a permanent basis…

This sweater is one of my favorites when I need something comfortable and cuddly. It was a random find at Old Navy a few years ago; it was on clearance at the end of the winter season. We don’t buy a lot of sweaters here in Florida (and they don’t get much wear, so if you have a few nice ones they have a long life), but I decided to take it home with me to wear the following season. I was taking a bit of a gamble that it would still fit/still be a style I like after months had passed. Thankfully, I was correct about it…and wearing it feels like I’ve wrapped myself in a cozy blanket. The only problem I have nowadays is that I don’t have many opportunities to wear it. But today, paired with my toothpick jeans and comfortable flats, I’m a happy camper.

And let’s talk about these shoes. Again, I’ve had them for a while, but they are one of my favorite pairs. Not only do they have the adorable bow detail in the back, but they also have memory foam in the insoles, which makes them insanely comfortable to wear throughout the day (and for me, many times that involves walking around a classroom for a lot of the day). I wish I would have purchased multiple pairs of this exact style, but I’m glad to report that Giani Bini does make these memory foam insole flats in many different styles now (I have my eyes on this pair, actually).

Are you ready to say goodbye to sweater season?
