Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day®

So, I turned 31 this year. I suppose last year’s arrival of my 30th birthday would have been more notable, but for some reason in the past few months I’ve somehow morphed into cleaning and beautifying mode in my home. Is that a thing? Do people just one day flip a switch and become adults who clean their houses and want to donate all of their “extra” items? Because that is what has happened to me. I’ve been scouring my house and purging – old clothes, old knick knacks – get them out! I don’t know if I’ll ever truly be a minimalist (and get myself a tiny house to live in), but I do feel a complete sense of relief when I get rid of all the excess that is around my house and CLEAN it thoroughly! Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels such a sense of peace and accomplishment at that.

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day®

Once I started my quest for a clean home, I began thinking more and more about the products I am using to do so. Surprise surprise – just like how I will literally sample each and every variety of mascara on the market to see if I like it, I’ve been making my rounds in the cleaning product category as well. However, once I landed on Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® products I was hooked. Have you used any of the items in their lineup before? If you haven’t, now is the time my friends. They are packed with plant-derived ingredients and essential oils and are free of artificial colors, ammonia, phtalates, chlorine bleach, parabens, and phosphates. In addition the products are  not tested on animals: something that this animal loving vegetarian finds incredibly important.

You can find the products at Whole Foods Market in the cleaning aisle, and there are options for many different areas of your house! I stocked myself up recently – it just so happens that Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® has a sponsorship with the Whole Kids Foundation – they will donate $1 to Whole Kids Foundation for each of the first 25,000 cleaning products purchased at Whole Foods Market between 8/24/16- 9/13/16 (offer valid on all scents of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray, Dish Soap, Multi-Surface Concentrate, Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Auto Dish Soap). Helping kids to learn about and grow to enjoy eating fruits and vegetables through creating edible gardens and salad bars at schools is definitely something I can get on board with! You can learn more about the Whole Kids Foundation on their website and in the video below – it’s pretty awesome!

Ok, so on to the cleaning! I think one of the most daunting parts of cleaning my house is knowing that I need different products and tools, and they all seem to be in different places throughout my house. I know, silly right? Rubber gloves are in the bathroom, the all purpose cleaning spray is in the kitchen, the sponges are in the laundry room, and the list goes on. I’m basically a mess (and so is my house). I find myself wandering back and forth around the house to grab items I need for cleaning. Why must I make things so hard on myself? That will no longer be an issue now that I have a DIY House Cleaning Caddy!

Yep. Nerd alert. I made myself a cleaning “toolbox” to store all of my essential cleaning items. Trust me, you’ll want to do the same thing too. And because it is so easy to do, there’s really no excuse not to!

DIY Cleaning Caddy

I stumbled upon this galvanized metal caddy a little while back – it is actually supposed to be used for utensils and other items in the kitchen. However, I took one look at it and thought: nope! It’s my house cleaning caddy! You can find various styles of these condiment/utensil caddies at stores – and they are perfect for keeping track of my supplies. The slots can hold products like my Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray in Lemon Verbena, which is probably my go-to product in their line. It’s the first item I purchased, and I just keep coming back because of how great it works AND how amazing it smells. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite scent either – Lemon Verbena is a great all-purpose option, but Honeysuckle is also one that I HIGHLY recommend. Their scent power is no joke – I will clean my bathroom surfaces with Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray in Lemon Verbena scent and I swear you can still detect the scent of it lingering an entire day later. It’s amazing.

Another essential in the line is the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate in Lavender scent. You dilute the concentrated cleaner with warm water to tackle floors, cupboards, countertops, and more (sealed, hard surfaces). I love a product that can be used in multiple ways – like I said earlier, I’m trying to get rid of the excess, and this product is helping my quest.

Of course, I’m always in the kitchen so a dish soap option is basically a requirement. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Dish Soap in Lavender scent not only gets my pots, pans, and dishes to shine, but can we talk about how great my hands smell afterward? Ah, the Lavender scent is seriously glorious.

Anyway, this DIY house cleaning caddy is definitely going to help me with my cleaning routine. You can completely customize your caddy to suit your cleaning needs – perhaps you have one for kitchen cleaning, or maybe you want one for the strictly bathroom items. It’s up to you! Being able to store my paper towels, sponges, gloves, and my Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® in one easy to carry container is making it a breeze to go from room to room. As an added bonus, it looks put together enough (and the style of the caddy is right in line with my house decor) that I can keep it sitting on my laundry room counter when it is not in use so I can easily grab and go for the next time! When you have everything you need on hand in a pinch, it truly makes it easy to take a few minutes to clean the house. Trust me – once you get your house sparkling and smelling great with these products, you just might find yourself looking forward to cleaning day. Because…I do.
