Mixing shades of black: do you do it?
Sometimes it can be a tricky task: do your black pants have to be the same shade as your shirt? I’ll be honest: I don’t think I really know the answer to that question. I just know that I very much enjoy wearing black on black on occasion, and this is one of those days. Black can be a perfect blank slate to brighten up with the addition of a properly placed accessory…like this scarf. I never would have thought this clearance purchase from Target a few years ago would get so much wear over time. Again and again I find uses for it in my wardrobe.
And here’s a question for you: how do you like to tie your scarves? I know there are about 1,000+ different ways to tie them, twist them, and shape them around your neck, but I seem to be stuck in a rut. I do the classic pass through loop style, and then I switch it up sometimes as I did today with a simple knot. Perhaps I need to start watching some tutorial videos on YouTube? Any you’d like to suggest? I need to start some research.
Oh, and if this tunic dress looks familiar, that’s because you’ve also seen it before! I styled it as a date night dress a few weeks back, but I also knew it would be perfect paired with leggings (and today: boots) for a casual everyday look. I think it turned out pretty well in the end! Hooray, versatility!
Tunic dress: Cynthia Rowley, c/o Marshalls (similar at GAP) // Leggings: purchased at Marshalls (similar at LOFT) // Floral scarf: Target (previous season, similar at JCPenney) // Boots: Sam Edelman Naharra (previous season, similar by Steve Madden) // Handbag: Urban Expressions (similar on Zappos)
Here’s a side by side look of the tunic dress…two ways! Get the details on the date night dress style HERE.
Linking up with Mix It Monday today!
This tunic dress is such a great, versatile piece! I’m loving both ways you styled it! I fall into the same rut with my scarves as well – I typically only wear them one or two different ways. I need to do some research as well and mix it up!!
I really must get to watching all of the video tutorials I see online! Must…tie…scarf…better!
