Are you ready for more guacamole? Because guess what: I’ve got it.
As much as I ADORE traditional/classic guacamole, sometimes it is fun to kick things up a notch. Today, I decided to go for the sweeter side of guacamole by adding some pineapple to the mix.
I have to admit – I was skeptical at first when I thought about adding a sweet ingredient like pineapple to my beloved guacamole. However, it is a really welcome addition for something a bit different! The pineapple is sweet, and it pairs well with the rich flavor of the avocados. Plus – you get the salty and sweet combination when you dip a tortilla chip into the guacamole. It’s pretty killer, if I do say so myself.
And again, it is super duper simple to whip up in your kitchen, so why not? I actually like making a “guacamole sampler” sometimes, featuring the classic guacamole and the pineapple. And…maybe a third flavor…but you’ll have to stay tuned for that one on Sunday!
Pineapple Guacamole
- 2 ripe Hass avocados
- ¼ cup onion, diced (I like using green onions)
- 1 tablespoon (approximately) fresh salsa
- 3 tablespoons crushed pineapple chunks
- juice from ¼ of a lime
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- Slice avocados in half and carefully remove pits and discard. Scoop the flesh of the avocado into a small bowl and discard the peel. Add onion, salsa, lime, and garlic salt.
- Using the tines of a fork, gently mash the ingredients until you reach desired texture. I like my guacamole to have small chunks of avocado present, but you can mash until completely smooth as well!
- Gently stir in pineapple chunks. Enjoy!
This looks so good! I have never thought to add pineapple but it sounds like it’s a perfect pairing!
Pineapple in my guacamole? I think I might just have to try this!!
I definitely recommend it! I wasn’t thinking it would taste so good, but the pop of sweetness from the pineapple is really great!
