My 5 Minute Face Routine

5 minute face makeup products

Do you have a 5 minute face routine to get you put together and out of the house in a snap?

Admittedly, I didn’t have one for the longest time. The process of putting on makeup could be a long and drawn out process. I sometimes chalk this up to being in my early/mid-twenties, or maybe it was just because I didn’t have the right products in my arsenal at the time. Whatever the true reason may be, I now have a set of makeup products that I can apply in a snap for a quick 5 minute face.

So: what are the products?

To start: Urban Decay’s Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion – $31. It gives my skin a matte finish and is not heavy at all. I apply a pea sized amount to my face before applying foundation, but you could also just mix a bit of it with moisturizer and apply if you don’t wish to wear foundation.

Next: foundation. I currently opt for L’Oreal’s Magic Nude Liquid Powder. It usually costs me around $11 at Target – if you check coupons in your newspaper there is usually a $2 off coupon circulating once a month that you can pick up. This foundation is incredibly thin: almost watery in consistency. For me this is perfect, as I typically am looking for a light coverage just to give myself an even skin tone. However, you can build thicker coverage with it if desired.

The third step: finishing powder. I currently use NYX Studio Finishing Powder in Translucent – $9.99. I am a big fan of loose powder applied with a fluffy powder brush to set everything in place. I used to use a tinted loose powder, but learned that in Florida with our humid weather, the color was more likely to “melt” off my face throughout the day. The translucent powder doesn’t do that since it’s clear! Again, it is something that allows me a natural look and doesn’t feel like I have a lot of makeup caked onto my face.

Finally – setting spray! I am obsessed with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – $30. This little mister bottle is magic, I tell you! This amazing product sets your makeup in place and keeps it there without allowing it to settle into lines. I’ve been hooked on it for a few years now: just a quick little mist to set everything into place and I’m good to go!

So: there you have it! A few quick products that give me a 5 minute face. To be honest, 5 minutes might be on the generous side of timing, as I can probably apply the entire set in 2 or 3. If I have an extra minute or two on my hands, I swipe on a few brushes of mascara onto my lashes and fill in my eyebrows with powder and an angled brush (my personal favorite: Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Duo Brow Powder – $23. It has a lighter and a darker hue, so you can use the lighter color for daytime, darker for night).
