How do you live radiantly in your everyday life? It’s a question worthy of some thought. It doesn’t have to be a complicated matter either: sometimes it is the little things that count!
I feel like in the past few months I’ve really started to embrace the idea of living radiantly day in and day out. My routine has changed, my jobs have changed, my perspective on certain things has changed: it has all added up in a positive way that makes me feel great! So – what are those things, exactly? There are four I want to point out.
Exercise. I’ve mentioned before that it took me until my late 20s to really embrace the idea of regular exercise. It wasn’t an overnight process. I had to explore different exercise methods and find out for myself which ones stuck with me. It was no surprise to me that I disliked running after trying that out for a bit. Then came weight lifting/weight training, which I found out I really enjoyed. A hand injury sidelined me from weights in the spring of last year, which is how I came to find Pure Barre, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I finally found a workout that I absolutely love to do pretty much every day of the week (I try for around 5-6 classes a week, depending on my schedule). I may go in to class not feeling that awesome, but I always leave with a smile on my face, feeling strong, feeling RADIANT.
Helping others. This point pretty much goes hand-in-hand with exercise. I loved Pure Barre so much that when I had the opportunity to become a teacher myself, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m not going to lie – it takes a lot of preparation and effort. However, the results are what make me feel amazing and keep me coming back to teach each day. I get to see firsthand how clients are able to push through shaking legs, are able to hold a plank position 10 seconds longer than they could in the last class, see them grow in flexibility, and I get to celebrate those accomplishments with them. It makes me feel radiant and it makes THEM feel radiant as well. I can’t get enough of the positive energy!
Eating well. I’ve been a vegetarian for almost a year and a half now, and eating well is always a priority for me. When I visit the grocery store and fill my cart with fresh produce, seeing all of the beautiful, natural colors from my fruits and vegetables always makes me feel great about life. In addition, Justin and I have a garden in our backyard that we are always trying to expand upon. Getting even FRESHER vegetables straight out of the garden is something that gives me a sense of accomplishment AND delights my taste buds. You know that saying your mom probably always told you, “you are what you eat?” Well, I am thinking that’s not a bad situation in my house!
Taking time for myself. This was a hard one for me to start doing. Throughout my early 20s it was always “go go go” – I would fill my plate with projects, deadlines, expectations, and more. I stressed myself out by not necessarily taking on TOO much, but taking on just enough that I wasn’t able to relax and enjoy life. And that is what it’s all about – taking a morning to go to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sand and sun. Walking the dogs. Turning off my electronic devices and sitting down to read a book for an hour. These are all things that help me recharge, and help boost my own radiance. Life is too short to not enjoy it, my friends.

I make the time to see friends often! It’s difficult sometimes to find the time, but it always makes me feel happier and more whole to spend time with loving friends!
I’ve recently started quite a few changes in my daily life. I’m trying to eat better. I’m eating more ‘clean’ food. I make sure to stay hydrated. I’ve also settled into a regular skin care routine. Mostly, I’m trying to take care of myself and the body that I live in. This, in turn, helps me to take better care of the people in my life who need me.
Eating clean and working out on a regular basis makes me feels fantastic!
