Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner: A Review

I am constantly amazed at how long my hair has grown over the past few years. Regardless of length, any hair style you sport will require its own set of maintenance and upkeep rituals.

When my hair was shorter and I visited the salon for regular trims every month and a half, I didn’t have to worry about my ends getting dried out and splitting. It was never an issue. However, now that my hair is oh so long, I am learning about the battles I have to endure with keeping my locks healthy and shiny. This usually means that I make an effort to condition my hair every day when I shower. But sometimes “regular strength” conditioner just doesn’t cut it. I’ve got to have something a bit stronger in power to fend off the hay-like dry texture at the ends of my hair.

Enter: Dove’s Intensive Repair Conditioner. I honestly am a big fan of Dove products when it comes to drug store beauty buys. Their lotions and shower gels that I have used in the past have been wonderful, so when I was able to try the new restorative conditioner, I had no doubt that I’d love this product as well.

The Intensive Repair Conditioner has fiber active technology that penetrates deep inside the hair strand, helping to rebind damaged proteins. It also has a patented Micromoisture Serum to target damage, repairing the surface of hair by sealing lifted cuticles. I like the sound of that!

So, let’s get down to the nitty gritty: did it work for me?

I have to say: I think it’s a solid product. When I use the Intensive Repair Conditioner, I can absolutely feel how sleek and moisturized my hair feels. I think that is one of my favorite things about intense conditioners like Dove’s – I can literally feel the difference upon rinsing my hair. It’s easier to comb through, and my hair looks shinier after I dry it (I think). Another plus for the Intensive Repair Conditioner is that you can use it daily! Some of the deep conditioners I’ve used in the past end up making my hair feel a little bit weighed down, but this one is light and can definitely be used daily if desired. I currently am using it 3-4 times a week, applying mostly to the ends of my hair, with just a small amount on the top of my locks.

In addition, for an extra kick of sleekness and shine, once a week I apply the Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner to my damp hair and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. I think you can REALLY tell the difference after that treatment! The picture above was taken right after my last treatment; my hair was definitely looking smooth and shiny that afternoon!

So, if you’re looking for a restorative conditioner to give you hair that extra boost of softness/shine, and to reduce the look of split ends, I would suggest you give the Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner a try! I’m officially a fan.
