Getting a Bronzed Glow Makeup Look with Mary Kay®

Today is a great day for a little bit of glamour! Although my day-to-day style involves a ponytail and very light makeup (being a barre teacher does that to you), it makes it even more special when I take a few extra minutes on my day off to put together the perfect look for a night out with my husband, or even just to get together with a friend! It feels great to bump up my look a notch, especially when it’s an easy process with a few simple products! Today I’m showing off a favorite of mine: a bronzed glow makeup look, thanks to Mary Kay® products!

Mary Kay® was kind enough to provide me with products to try out two stunning looks featured on Project Runway: a Sculpted Look and a Bronzed Glow look. Mary Kay® is the official beauty sponsor of Project Runway. I don’t know about you, but Project Runway is always one of the shows I have set for my DVR! Of course, along with the fantastic fashion, there are head to toe looks (including makeup and hair) that I absolutely want to have for myself. Thankfully, Mary Kay® makes it possible to put together some of the best makeup looks!

Here’s the sad truth: even though it’s summer, I have had very little sun in my life. Have you seen the news recently about the massive rain and flooding in Florida? Yup, that was in my neck of the woods! For what seemed like the entire month of July and the beginning of August, it has rained almost non-stop! I could really stand to appear sun-kissed, so the Bronze Glow look was right up my alley.

The Bronze Glow’s focus is on the eyes and cheeks. There are golden hues paired with pinks that make everything pop and give you that look like you’ve been touched by the sun. Just a few steps are needed to put everything together. Before applying my bronzed looks, I start my makeup routine with a moisturizer, foundation primer, and a light coat of foundation. Then, a few swipes of the Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder in Light-Medium with the Powder Brush are applied to the high points of the face that the sun would naturally hit. Next, add the Mineral Cheek Duo in Spiced Poppy over the bronzer with the Cheek Brush. The bright poppy color seems intense at first glance, but using a small amount on the cheek brush is all you need. Then you use the highlighter shade on top of the cheek to give shine.

After that, it’s time for the eyes! Using the Mary Kay® Eye Color Brush, apply Amber Blaze and Gold Coast Mineral Eye Colors to the eyelid. I like to use the Amber Blaze on the entire eyelid, and the Gold Coast as a highlight in the inner corners of the eyelid. Then, apply the Precious Pink Mineral Eye Color to the crease of the eyelid to add more warmth and dimension. It takes all of a minute to apply all three colors, and when they are all easily accessible in a single compact, it’s a snap!

Of course, a bit of definition is always a good idea, so the Gel Eyeliner in Jet Black is a must for the base of the upper lashes. I love the eyeliner brush almost as much as the gel eyeliner – this little guy opens up and snaps together to create a longer brush handle! The gel eyeliner glides itself over the eye in such a smooth way – I’m really a big fan of it (and I always have problems applying the perfect line of eyeliner, so any products that help me are fantastic)! Now, it wouldn’t be a complete look without mascara, so a few coats of Lash Love Lengthening Mascara are an order. I think this is one of my all time favorite mascaras (and I’ve tried quite a few in my day). The slightly curved brush helps to curl the lashes up, and even with my thin and short eyelashes I feel like I can get a beautiful look! For the final touch, a quick swipe of NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Beach Bronze adds a metallic hint to the lips. It’s just enough to set everything off, and I like that the formula isn’t sticky or slimy like a lot of lip glosses out there: it’s smooth and light!

Overall, I really like that the products are easy to apply, have thoughtfully designed packaging, and are in shades I know I will use for my everyday life. Having versatility in my makeup routine is a must for me, and I like that I can mix and match the products to either downplay or bump up the look. The final Bronzed Glow look is definitely one that I like to rock for date night. There is certainly a reason that Mary Kay® is a household name and has been loved throughout the years!
