I promised I’d write more about them…those beautiful painted chocolates I tasted at the Yelp Livin La Vida Local event…and now the time has come.
I don’t even know where to start with these chocolates, but perhaps I’ll lead with William Dean Chocolates’ gorgeous good looks.
It’s hard to get past the gorgeousness of these chocolate treats: they are painted and pretty…each flavor boasting a different shape and design. They’re pretty much like receiving a jewelry box of candy. They’re almost too pretty to touch. Almost…
William Dean Chocolates are based out of the Tampa Bay area, but you are also able to order them from their online store. Apparently, some of these candies were featured in a scene in the first The Hunger Games movie (when Peeta and Katniss are on the train), so I know the next time I put on the film I’ll have to be watching for their cameo.
Don’t you think these painted chocolates would make an amazing holiday gift for someone? Yes, they are a little bit of an indulgence, but no more than you’d pay for a box of Godiva chocolates. And these are something special that won’t be forgotten.
There are so many different flavors to choose from, and many of them are unique! The light green and yellow chocolate on the right contains lemongrass (so interesting!), for example. And the one with polka dots on top? Apple pie! I was amazed at how much it REALLY DID taste like apple pie: I’m a fan! However, you still get some classic flavor combinations, like chocolate and coconut, chocolate and coffee, etc. – you can’t go wrong. The chocolates have a crisp exterior but creamy and smooth interiors; I love the texture and the decadence of them. They’re beautiful little indulgences with pops of delicious flavor.
And even a cross section slice of these chocolates are pretty (this one is coconut and chocolate). I’m in awe. I’m dying to know more about the process behind making these gorgeous works of edible art; they are certainly a labor of love. Maybe one day soon I’ll get to pop in and see the magic behind William Dean Chocolates myself…who knows!
Have you been dazzled by gifts of edible art? What is the prettiest that you’ve seen?
These are gorgeous…they would make an amazing hostess gift during the holiday season!

I still swoon at the prettiness of these chocolates!
