I started a membership with Birchbox earlier on in 2012, and I have to say that (so far) the experience has been pretty awesome! Each month, my little box of goodies is filled with samples of beauty products to test out…and sometimes there are even full sized offerings!
A few months ago, I received a Birchbox with a product that is now one of my go-to lip products. It is Tarte’s LipSurgence lip tint, and it is amazing! I was lucky enough to receive a full sized natural matte lip stain in my Birchbox, and I’ve been using it almost daily ever since! Ah, Birchbox, I do love you: a $24 lip stain, plus 4 other sample sized products…all for only $10? How can you beat that?
Tarte LipSurgence Lip Stain, Sephora: $24
I’m a huge fan of matte lip stain: lately I’ve been getting a bit tired of lip gloss. When the wind blows my hair into my face and my hair sticks to my lips, it always gets me a little bit irritable. But, with this lip stain that is no longer a problem! The design is much like an oversized crayon, and there is a twist on the bottom to allow new product to rise when you’ve worn the lip stain down. The product goes on thin and smooth, and the firm texture and design of the tube allow you to expertly apply the stain to your lips in all the right places…no coloring outside of the lines!
The shade I was lucky enough to snag is called Lucky – it is a bright, bubblegum pink and is wonderful for everyday wear! I highly recommend it.
I’ve even been using it to mix and match with other lip products in my arsenal. I layered NARS Carthage lipstick with my Tarte LipSurgence in Lucky to produce the look above: a punchy, bright pink lip! I’ve also combined it many times with a coral lipstick to create another hue. So many options!
And, if you haven’t signed up for Birchbox yet, why don’t you? For $10 a month, you get a lovely selection of goodies to try. It is always a fun piece of mail to receive, and I’ve found some great new items through it! If you’d like to sign up, just click here for an invite!
