My Style

Simple Navy Maxi

Today’s outfit is about keeping it simple yet chic.

Sometimes, I just don’t feel like layering on bracelets or wearing a bold necklace. I just want to throw on a dress, put on a pair of earrings, grab my bag, and go. And that is just what I did.

Is that technically a style blogging fail? You might argue that it is, but I also want to keep it real. I actually wear all of the outfits I share on the blog, and some days I really do feel the need to accessorize to add interest to an outfit (and I like to). And sometimes, I just don’t. Stud earrings are my reliable, go-to jewelry piece of choice, along with my wedding band and engagement ring. At times, that is all you need (aside from a bag to carry your belongings).

I added this navy blue maxi dress to my wardrobe back in 2008. Yep: four years ago. It’s a simple jersey material in a classic color, and when I saw it at (gasp) T.J. Maxx I knew it should be mine. Now, four years later, it is still in style and is perfect to throw on for a chic look without much effort.

The low cut back on this dress definitely helps out with the hot and steamy temperatures we’ve been having lately. I don’t want to wish for fall weather yet, but I wouldn’t mind a cool breeze every now and then!
