Cooking With Kids: Snowman Head Cookies

Author:
Ingredients
  • Sugar cookie dough (or round pre-made sugar cookies)
  • White frosting (any flavor variety that is white)
  • Life Saver Gummies (2 per cookie)
  • Licorice vines
  • Mini M&Ms
  • Orange Tic Tacs (or other small orange candy: candy corn, etc.)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven according to sugar cookie instructions. Roll a tablespoon sized scoop of dough into a circular shape and place on a cookie sheet to bake. Bake according to dough instructions, remove from pan and allow to cool completely.
  2. Prepare a surface to decorate cookies on (lay a sheet of wax paper or use a large plate to work on). Use a knife or spatula to spread white frosting evenly across the top of each cookie.
  3. For the earmuffs, peel the licorice vines so two vines are stuck together (for a thick band). Use a knife or kitchen scissors to cut vine pieces about 2 inches long. Place the double vines along the top of each cookie, making sure it sticks into the frosting (so it will set/dry on to the cookie). Place a Life Saver gummy ring on the end of each earmuff strap end to complete the earmuffs.
  4. For the face, place mini M&Ms (or other small round candies) for the eyes, an orange Tic Tac for the nose, and cut a single strip of licorice vine in a 1 inch length for the smile. Enjoy!
