My Style

Time of My Life Dress

Last month, I was searching high and low for a dress to wear to my brother’s wedding. It’s funny how things ended up working out: I didn’t even pick one of the 13 I had narrowed it down to. First, I picked out a pretty one shoulder black dress; I figured a black dress would always be a great staple for my wardrobe. Plus: I liked the idea of going crazy with accessories to make it stand out.

Well, go figure: my sometimes difficult to fit body didn’t come through on that dress. It arrived at my doorstep and as soon as I zipped it up I knew it was not meant to be. The bust was too large, but every other part of the frock fit me like a glove. Darn it all! I went back to the drawing board at that point…about two weeks before the wedding (officially in slight panic mode at the time since shipping around Christmas can get delayed). And thankfully it was ModCloth that came through in the end.

The Time of My Life dress caught my eye from the get-go. I could tell the blue and green watercolor-like print would be flattering any season of the year. I can see it working well for many occasions (and I hope I have some additional excuses to wear it in the coming months). I purchased the dress in a pattern called “Sea” (which is now 50% off, by the way), but you can find it in a second “Forest” pattern as well. There are also 5 different solid color options available at Nordstrom if you like the style but aren’t a fan of pattern. When the dress arrived and I took a look at the tag, I had to laugh. Wouldn’t you know it – it was the SAME brand as the one shouldered dress I had previously purchased (at Nordstrom). Hey – at least I am consistent with what I like, right?

Crystal statement necklace

And can we please talk about this crystal statement necklace I picked up at T.J. Maxx? I’ve already worn it a bunch of times since the wedding. It looks great paired with a simple tee shirt and jeans, but also fancied up my dress for the wedding festivities as well. Sparkle sparkle!
