Our Wedding

Lovely Tonight: The Processional

It was show time. Our guests were seated, and the doors to the ceremony space were about to be opened.

I do want to take a moment to bring up an aspect of our ceremony that was very important to me: the music. Music, in general, is so important to me, and I wanted to make sure that from the moment our guests arrived until the moment the recessional song played, our ceremony music would be cohesive and set the appropriate mood.

30 minutes before the ceremony began, our DJ started playing the following songs:

*Wedding Dress – Matt Nathanson

*Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Jason Castro

*Everything – Michael Buble

*You & Me – Dave Matthews Band

*I’d Rather Be With You – Joshua Radin

When the last notes of Joshua Radin’s song faded out, our DJ transitioned into the song I had selected for our parents and family to be seated to: When You Come Back Down by Nickel Creek

My cousin J escorted my grandma down the aisle first.

They were followed by my grandparents from my dad’s side.

Justin’s parents walked down the aisle next.

Next up: my mom, escorted by my handsome little brother.

Once our family members were seated, the music transitioned to Iron and Wine’s Love and Some Verses.

The groomsmen made their way down the aisle first, followed by Justin and our officiant.

If you’re wondering…no this is not Justin – it is his identical twin!

We had 4 groomsmen in our bridal party (and a groom…), but no pictures seem to exist of their walk down the aisle! C’est la vie.

My lovely ladies were next! BM A went first…

BM K was next in line…

She was followed by BM L, who wins the award for most adorable ensemble (seriously…the necklace, the headband…can she be any cuter? I think not).

Last, but not least, was MOH L.

Our little scene stealers came next. Ringbearer I did a fantastic job at walking down the aisle; he was so handsome in his ensemble!

3 year old Flower Girl A had been waiting patiently for her turn…

Her mom handed A the pomander I had created for her and we waited for her musical cue. Then with a gentle nudge, she was on her way!

A didn’t just walk down the aisle – she hopped/skipped! She was on a mission…

She made sure to give a quick wave to her adoring fans, of course!

At this point, all but two had made it down the aisle…our guests were ready for my entrance.

It was time.

Previously…

The girls got ready, then the guys got ready.

I became a bride, but our first look wasn’t what I’d hoped.

We took some photos alone and then with our bridal party.

Everyone hopped on the trolley and we took some family portraits before my cake arrived.

I gathered myself before the ceremony.

  • I am also being very particular about the music selection! Did your husband and his mother have a dance together? Can I ask what they danced to if they did? This is the only song choice I am having problems coming up with. I will probably end up letting my MIL choose, but I would like to give her some options to choose from if she needs help.

    • Yes, Justin and his mother had a mother-son dance; I stayed out of the decision completely. I just let them choose it together, since that particular dance was not about me whatsoever. 🙂
