Happy Gotcha Day, Sherman! Do you ever wonder how time manages to fly by so quickly? I honestly have a hard time believing that a year ago (well, to be honest, it was on Sunday…so I’m a few days late) we added our newest family member into the fold.
We weren’t really planning on adopting a new dog, but once I laid my eyes on Sherman, I somehow knew he needed to come home with us. It’s kind of crazy to look back on photos from the day we adopted him and compare them to photos from present day. I keep seeing articles pop up with before and after photos of dogs who have been adopted, and I definitely think you can see the difference in Sherman from a year ago to now. He was a scared, quiet little guy who loved to snuggle up on anyone’s lap if given the opportunity.
Today, the scared and quiet part is pretty much gone. A few weeks after being in our home, his personality burst through. His ears perked up: his first few days his ears were always pulled back/down…and we discovered that Sherman actually has quite perky ears, and one is always fully perked up, and the other flops over.
His eyes became brighter, and he started making his hilarious faces. After the first day in the house together, Sherman and Lucia became fast friends. They are buddies, and even though Lucia is about 3 times bigger than Sherman, she is so gentle when she plays with him.
But seriously – the faces. I can hardly handle them sometimes. I have never had a dog with such a funny personality like Sherman does. Lucia is our well mannered beauty; Sherman is the odd but spunky beast. It totally works. And I CANNOT HANDLE HIS UNDERBITE. By the way – Sherman has his own Instagram account – you can follow him at @callmesherman.
So – happy Gotcha Day, my little ray of sunshine! It’s been a fun year with you!
Sherman is the cutest dog EVER!! We felt the same about our Missy. We were just looking to see what was available. We had an idea of what we wanted but that went out the window when she chose us. That’s how it happens. Happy Gotcha Day Sherman!
I LOVE this! He is so cute! We just rescued a min-pin/chihuahua mix a week ago and she is such a ray of sunshine. Congratulations to Sherman and to you. 🙂 He’s very lucky.
Looks like a happy pup. Well done.
