DIY Coffee Filter Flower Lampshade

Ever since we moved into our new home, I’ve been feeling the need to get crafty. There’s decor to DIY, walls to paint, furniture to arrange…

…lampshades to decorate…

I am SO pleased with how well my most recent DIY project turned out, and you will not believe how simple it was AND how affordable it was to create. Seriously: aside from the lampshade itself, the materials to DIY this floral lampshade cost me less than $10. Yes, you read that right: less than $10!!!

These pretty little flowers are made out of coffee filters, my friends. Simple little coffee filters that you can pick up at your local dollar store. Add to the filters  some masking tape, drinking straws, and a bit of hot glue and your boring lampshade can be transformed.

I’ve seen so many tutorials for coffee filter flowers out there, and I will be sharing the two methods I implemented for my lampshade in the next few days. Yes – there are only two different flower making methods involved,  yet you can yield so many different variations with them!

Coincidentally, this lampshade is also part of a little contest over on the Lamps.com blog. They asked a handful of bloggers to craft their own creative lampshade creations, and it is now time to vote on the favorite! So, visit the contest page and vote for me, will you please? If you prefer another lampshade over mine though, I totally understand. FYI – when you vote for your favorite lampshade, you will be entered to win a $100 gift card to Lamps.com. AND if you vote for me and I WIN, I will have another $100 gift card to give away here on the blog. So…vote for me. Just saying…

***Disclosure: I was provided with a lampshade from Lamps.com to decorate as a part of this contest. All decorating materials were purchased by me.
