Our Wedding

Lovely Tonight: Family Photos

When we arrived at the venue, it was time to take a few family portraits, as we had allotted about an hour for group shots before the ceremony. I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful stone fireplaces and the mantles that Carlouel constructed just for us! First we posed with Justin’s parents.

Then one with my family. Can you tell that I got my mom’s genes and my brother got my father’s?

One with the little bro. Seriously though, even though he is 5 1/2 years younger than me, I think that I am the “little” one here…

Aww…I love my parents…and isn’t my mom’s dress fabulous?

Both families coming together:

We had to sneak at least one photo in with our adorable flower girl and ring bearer! Aren’t they cute?

And of course, the grandparents…

All in all, we didn’t put a HUGE emphasis on family/group portraits on our wedding day. It was a give-and-take decision; we knew that our families would appreciate a few group shots, but I also knew that I wouldn’t display any of them in my home per se. So, we didn’t take huge group shots with extended family members (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) because we wanted to focus our time for photographs elsewhere (like the ones you’ve already seen, or the ones I am going to share with you soon)! Since our photographers take a more photojournalistic approach to their craft, this was also conducive to their style. In the end, I think that the group photos are a personal choice: if they are important to you and you are willing to allot the time to wrangle those involved, go for it! If they aren’t as important, make sure you do set aside SOME time for a few shots, but don’t lose sleep over it if everyone isn’t around/people aren’t on time to take the pictures. Prioritize!

Anyway, once the picture taking was complete, it was time for me to go into hiding – our guests would be arriving soon, and the ceremony was about to begin!

Previously…

The girls got ready, then the guys got ready.

I became a bride, but our first look wasn’t what I’d hoped.

We took some photos alone and then with our bridal party.

Everyone hopped on the trolley.
